Spatial Scales and Time Variation of Solar Subsurface Convection

چکیده
Spectral analysis of the spatial structure solar subphotospheric convection is carried out for subsurface flow maps constructed using time--distance helioseismological technique. The source data are obtained from Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) onboard Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) 2010 May to 2020 September. A spherical-harmonic transform applied horizontal-velocity-divergence field at depths 0 19~Mm. range scales fairly broad in shallow layers narrows as depth increases. horizontal rapidly increase with depth, supergranulation giant-cell values, indicate existence large-scale convective motions near-surface shear layer. results can naturally be interpreted terms a superposition differently scaled flows localized different intervals. There some tendency toward emergence meridionally elongated (banana-shaped) structures deep layers. total power anticorrelated sunspot-number variation over activity cycle positively correlated larger depths, which suggestive redistribution convective-flow energy due action magnetic fields.

Observational manifestations of solar magneto-convection — center-to-limb variation
We present the first center-to-limb G-band images synthesized from high resolution simulations of solar magneto-convection. Towards the limb the simulations show “hilly” granulation with dark bands on the far side, bright granulation walls and striated faculae, similar to observations. At disk center G-band bright points are flanked by dark lanes. The increased brightness in magnetic elements i...
متن کاملHelioseismic Holography of Simulated Solar Convection and Prospects for the Detection of Small-Scale Subsurface Flows
We perform helioseismic holography on realistic solar convection simulations and compare the observed travel-time perturbations with the expected travel times from the horizontal flows in the simulations computed from forward models under the assumption of the Born approximation. We demonstrate reasonable agreement between the observed and model travel times which reinforces the validity of hel...
متن کاملVariation of Oscillation Mode Parameters over the Solar Cycle 23: An Analysis on Different Time Scales
We investigate the variation in the mode parameters obtained from time series of length 9, 36, 72 and 108 days to understand the changes occurring on different time-scales. The regression analysis between frequency shifts and activity proxies indicates that the correlation and slopes are correlated and both increase in going from time series of 9 to 108 days. We also observe that the energy of ...
متن کاملVariation of Muon Counts Versus Solar Time
Project GRAND observes small variations in the number of incident muons when plotted versus local solar time. The total accumulated number of muons by GRAND over four years’ time is 140 billion. The data obtained by Project GRAND are compared with data from neutron monitor stations at Climax and at Newark which detect secondary neutrons. Project GRAND is an array of 64 proportional wire chamber...
متن کاملRelevant Spatial Scales of Chemical Variation in Aplysina aerophoba
Understanding the scale at which natural products vary the most is critical because it sheds light on the type of factors that regulate their production. The sponge Aplysina aerophoba is a common Mediterranean sponge inhabiting shallow waters in the Mediterranean and its area of influence in Atlantic Ocean. This species contains large concentrations of brominated alkaloids (BAs) that play a num...
